Talk to me Goose

Like so many, this blog is going through its changes and soul-searching.  I've been at this for nearly a year now, I'd say a very successful year.  Yet, I want to make this site better, better for you.

I've written some good stuff, and made some woeful mistakes.  In the end, what I want this site to be about is the soulful side of fly fishing- why we're out there, what motivates and obsesses us, what makes us keep going out there, rod in hand, in all weather after fish.  Please, if you will, fill out the form below and let me know what you want.  Feel free to rant in the comments below about how I'm the lost son of an ill-bred mother if you like.  Just give me some insight into what makes you tick as a fly angler and blog reader.

  1. As you say, lots of blog/soul searching going on around the interweb. I am starting my 4th year and still don't know what the hell I'm doing or what folks want. In the end, I've decided that it doesn't matter because the only way to keep it going and to keep it fun for me - and that's what's really important, don't you think - is to do what feels good... to me. Analyze your poll, but blog what's inside you. I think we're all good with that. I know I am.

  4. Not to give you a big head, but I'm pretty happy with the way you run things here on the ranch. Keep the Monday morning coffee, please.

  6. Mike- You're a pro and a fine example for us Jr. bloggers. I'm not looking to reinvent the wheel so much as make sure there's enough air in the tires. Thanks for the input.

JH- thanks- I appreciate the props- no huge changes coming.

Jay- no worries, I'll keep it real.

Kiwi- thanks, you've been a loyal visitor. I just want to improve if I can.

  7. Life gets busy and your posts were solid even though you got busier than a one-armed...
Your fishing trip photos have been excellent, the videos were very entertaining, and your selection of local topics has kept me checking in. Keep up the great work and if the MMC ends up on Wednesday- oh well!

  8. You really don't need to change a thing. It is a blog with excellent material. I would like to see your videos come back. Mainly because the reader can be excited for your big ol' brookie catch. Or they can be excited WITH you!! Lookin forward to another steller year, no matter what direction you go.

  9. Patrick, RD- It's not about changing directions so much as tightening up the ship. MMC will definitely stay in place, for whatever reason that remains popular. I drowned my Flipcam, so I'm saving pennies for a GoPro, and I'll try to get back to video soon. Yukon better watch his back!
